The History of HPA San Luis
Harvest Preparatory Academy, a Non-Profit organization,broke ground back in 2014. This expansion of harvest was a great addition to the San Luis community. Dr and Mrs. Ybarra had a vision to provide a private education in a FREE public school when they opened the Yuma campus. Holding true to their mission the conception of growing in San Luis, AZ came true HPA San Luis is still going strong, striving to guide each student to a high level of academic achievement and success . The development of their personal dignity to their family , community , school and self, remains to be the foundation to attain this success.
Today Ms. Adel Espinoza is the Site Director at Harvest Prep in San Luis. As a charter school that is a public school. Mrs Esponosa embraces the community’s values and culture, ensuring the students have a comfortable and safe learning environment. Zero Tolerance on violence-bullying-drugs and alcohol. Harvest Prep is 89% hispanic population, the school has 60% english second language population. 50% tested out of the ESL program as English Proficient.
A charter school is a public school and FREE! HPA is privately owned and operated. HPA has the ability to decrease classroom sizes: studies show that the smaller classroom sizes produce bigger results in childrens’ education. HPA promotes structured learning environments. As part of their vision, HPA promotes a loving and caring environment. HPA chooses their teachers not only for their ability to teach but how they love and care for children Dr. and Mrs Ybarra hold their teachers to very high standards and a moral education. Having moral literacy a person will be immeasurably better equipped and will be able to reach a reasoned and ethically defensible position on tough issues. Teachers must be active models. developing character in the kids and following the code of conduct that must be taught with absolute right and wrong.
