Welcome to HPA San Luis!
From The Desk Of Dr.YbarraFirst and foremost I would like to thank you for all the food and toy donations that were sent to our HPA campuses. Operation eggnog was a grand success and we are content to announce that all of your donations will be going out to needy families within our community. Furthermore, as we enter our Christmas Break I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. As a reminder, Christmas Break will be from December 23rd through January 3rd; we return to school on Monday January 6th, 2014. Students will be Math testing during the first week of school upon returning from their Christmas Break from January 6th through January 10th; therefore, we ask that you ensure your child studies during the Christmas Break to additionally prepare them for their tests.
I’m eager to announce that our K-8th grade Intervention students demonstrated growth in Mathematics and Reading due to Interventions during our first semester. HPA went from 0% in Reading to 30% after interventions and in Mathematics HPA went from a 6% to 51% after interventions. We need to continue to find different ways to meet their needs and your assistance is needed. The IAT (intervention assistance team) will continue assisting students next semester and we are striving for all of the scores to keep going up. The support team will review the status of at-risk students who have not passed core subject areas and/or various assessments. Please make sure your child attends school regularly, attends tutorials as assigned, and completes homework. We need parent participation and cooperation to achieve our goals! Thank you for all your continued support.
Once again, our Turkey Bowl competition was a success and for the 3rd consecutive year our teachers won vs. HPA’s football players. In addition, our Powder Puff students won vs. our school teachers for the 2nd consecutive year. I’m excited to inform you that our first semester fundraising was successful. Our K-12th grade students raised an estimated amount of $7,500.00. This money will help pay for many student activities throughout the 2013-2014 school year. Thank you for all your support. Additionally, I will like to inform you that for your convenience HPA offices will remain open during the Christmas Break for any questions please don’t hesitate to contact our offices.
